CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Dear All,
It’s with great anticipation that we launch this call for submissions for an Anthology on Myths & Legends that Surround Objects and Natural Features in the NW Region of Cameroon. The anthology will feature short stories, poems, short drama and articles that explore the origin, significance and history of these objects and natural features. Creative literature (poems, drama and short stories) should be inspired by the above mentioned myths and legends or oral history; adaptations or recounts with fuller character development, clear and coherent story lines/event sequencing etc are encouraged.
Modernity and exposure (over time) have had a negative toll on traditional storytelling. The revolution brought about by the digital age in the communication, education and entertainment sectors have contributed in importing other cultures and folktales and locals tales have suffered from this; local folktales have been sidelined because they are not well documented and at times, even those that have been documented are not easily accessible or  have not been put into interesting forms that can attract a cross section of the population and satisfy new consumption habits. This has posed a gigantic threat to the posterity of these stories and the values they carry and thus the dire need for this collection. In order to compete with other tales, we seek to employ more interesting ways of documenting, preserving and sharing such a significant aspect of the cultural heritage of a people.
The collection is open to everyone who wishes to contribute to the immortalization of these stories.
